It’s September WWW Wednesday time! This is a weekly meme (but I tend to do it monthly) hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and pop your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Dolly Alderton’s debut novel, Ghosts (spoiler: it’s not actually about spirits and ghouls) so am currently really enjoying dipping into that. Dolly is a writer and journalist, you may have read her memoir, Everything I Know About Love. I loved her warm, witty tone in her bio and that is coming through so far in her fiction, so that’s a big tick for me.
/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?
A memoir that could not be more in-the-moment if it tried, Life in Pieces is a collection of diary entries written by Dawn O’Porter during lockdown. Despite our circumstances not being the exactly the same (she lives in LA and is married to a movie star… I do not) we both have boys aged 3 and 5 and have had to tackle parenting in lockdown. I thoroughly enjoyed it. She is honest, open and it’s always great to get another perspective on life in lockdown.
/ WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?
In an attempt to tackle my epic TBR (rather than just keep adding to it) I really want to read My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, which has been on my shelf for a while now. I have read so many amazing reviews of this book. Here is the blurb:
‘2000. Bright, ambitious, and yearning for adulthood, fifteen-year-old Vanessa Wye becomes entangled in an affair with Jacob Strane, her magnetic and guileful forty-two-year-old English teacher.
2017. Amid the rising wave of allegations against powerful men, a reckoning is coming due. Strane has been accused of sexual abuse by a former student, who reaches out to Vanessa, and now Vanessa suddenly finds herself facing an impossible choice: remain silent, firm in the belief that her teenage self willingly engaged in this relationship, or redefine herself and the events of her past. But how can Vanessa reject her first love, the man who fundamentally transformed her and has been a persistent presence in her life? Is it possible that the man she loved as a teenager—and who professed to worship only her—may be far different from what she has always believed?’
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week / plan on reading soon – let me know!
Life in pieces is on my TBR too!

I tend to not read romances often but Ghosts sounds interesting! My Dark Vanessa was very good as well. Happy reading!

Yes it’s really good so far, more about friendship and living life than pure romance at the moment!

My dark Vanessa is so dark & disturbing but also really engaging and makes you think. I don’t think ‘like’ is the right word but I definitely appreciated it

Interesting way of putting it, thank you. I know it’s a sensitive topic it covers, so intrigued to see how it does that.
