WWW Wednesday: 9th December 2020

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?

I love the way author Elizabeth Strout writes. Her characterisation and storytelling is fabulous. I particularly enjoyed Olive Kitteridge when I read it a few years ago, so am very pleased to now be reading its sequel: Olive, Again, which follows lead character, Olive at the next stage in her life.

/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?

If you’re looking for a brilliant series, I highly recommend Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski. Changeling is not the last in the series, but its the most recent one I have read and it’s a brilliant page turner that focuses on a real-crime podcast. The podcast host, Scott King narrates it and this time, things take a very personal and intriguing twist.

/ WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?

I’m in the mood for an excellent thriller and I’ve heard The Couple Next Door is exactly that:

‘Your neighbour told you that she didn’t want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn’t stand her crying. Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you only live next door. You’ll have the baby monitor and you’ll take it in turns to go back every half hour.

Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realised. She’s gone. You’ve never had to call the police before. But now they’re in your home, and who knows what they’ll find there.’

Agghhh sounds like my worst nightmare! But think I’m going to face my fears and give it a read…

  9. Last night, I finished reading the Victorian classic, Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell and tonight, I am looking forward to starting the nostalgic murder-mystery, O Jersusalem by Laurie R. King. Happy reading, Jen! 😃
