WWW Wednesday: 16th June 2021

Welcome to my June WWW Wednesday. Books I’ve just read, am reading and planning to read… This is a weekly (but I tend to do it monthly) challenge, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and pop your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?

This month has a distinct female rage and murder theme, which I didn’t realise until I saw all these books together! Don’t know what that says about my frame of mind right now… Animal by Lisa Taddeo (of Three Women fame) is my current read. Narrated by Joan, she describes herself as depraved and this is her visceral and raw story. I’m hooked.

/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?

The Brighton Mermaid by Dorothy Koomson. Dorothy is an author who has been on my must-read list for a while now and I’m so glad I finally got to delve into one of her books. She has a brilliant voice and this is a brilliant murder mystery – click the book title for my full review.

/ WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?

Really looking forward to starting How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie. It’s billed as being funny, witty and deadpan – right down my street. Here’s the blurb:

When Grace Bernard discovers her absentee millionaire father has rejected her dying mother’s pleas for help, she vows revenge, and sets about to kill every member of his family. Readers have a front row seat as Grace picks off the family one by one – and the result is as and gruesome as it is entertaining in this wickedly dark romp about class, family, love… and murder.

But then Grace is imprisoned for a murder she didn’t commit.’

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week / plan on reading soon – let me know below!
