WWW Wednesday: 20th July 2022

Over half way through the year already and its time for my July WWW Wednesday book post! This is a weekly (but I tend to do it monthly) challenge, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and put your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?

I loved Queenie, so was excited to start People Person, the next book from Candice Carty-Williams. Dimple is our lead character but her four half-siblings play key roles too. It’s a story of them coming together as adults, after not really growing up together, to help each other out. I’m about half way through and loving the spins the plot is taking me on!

/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?

If you’re in the mood for a great thriller to read in the sunshine, I can recommend The Retreat by Sarah Pearse. I read it over a sunny weekend and loved its remote setting, strong female detective lead character and, of course, page-turning murder plot!

Ruth Ware has a new thriller coming out soon – The It Girl. She has a great back-catalogue and I’m really liking the sound of this one so will be reading it next…

April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the second, April was dead.

Now, a decade later, Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, and the man convicted of killing April, former Oxford porter John Neville, has died in prison. Relieved to have finally put the past behind her, Hannah’s world is rocked when a young journalist comes knocking and presents new evidence that Neville may have been innocent. As Hannah reconnects with old friends and delves deeper into the mystery of April’s death, she realizes that the friends she thought she knew all have something to hide…including a murder.

Sounds good, right? I’d love to know what you’re reading this week or plan on reading soon – let me know below!
