WWW Wednesday: 8th December 2021

Hello from my final WWW Wednesday of 2021! This is a weekly (but I tend to do it monthly) challenge, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and pop your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?

Well it wouldn’t be December without a Christmas read, would it? A Scandinavian Christmas is a set of short stories and is perfect for dipping into. I’ve decided to read one a day this week and get myself in the festive spirit!

/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?

I am a huge fan of the Aisling series of books and Aisling and the City (yes, that city is, of course, New York) sees our eponymous lead character start a new job and life in the Big Apple.

Despite being set in America, this story is still wonderfully Irish and it was so enjoyable to catch up with Aisling and see what she’s up to now! I highly recommend reading this series if you’re looking for a funny, uplifting read.

Magpie by Elizabeth Day seems like a good sort of clever thriller to be my next audiobook. I like a what’s-going-to-happen-next story to keep my company on my walks. Here’s the blurb:

Marisa may have only known Jake a few months, but she has never felt this certain about anyone. When he asks her to move in with him and they start trying for a baby, she knows she has finally found the steadfast love and support she has been looking for all her life.

But their relationship is tested when they take in a lodger, Kate, who has little regard for personal boundaries and seems to take an uncomfortable interest in Jake – as well as the baby they are hoping to have.

Why is Kate so obsessed with the couple? And, more worryingly, why doesn’t Jake share Marisa’s concern? In her determination to find the answers, Marisa risks losing everything she holds dear…

Wishing you all a very happy December and Christmas! I’d love to know what you’re reading this week / plan on reading soon – let me know below!
