Hello, November! Can’t believe this is my penultimate monthly round up blog of the year – 2023 has whizzed by in these past few months. Longer evenings do naturally lend themselves to more reading time so that’s always a plus. And the fact you can just indulge in anything you want and say ‘well, why not? It’s (practically) Christmas!’ God bless, Christmas.
But, onto my November reads – they were an eclectic and excellent bunch that looked a little like this…

My November Book Reviews:
(Click on book title for my full review.)
/ Good Material by Dolly Alderton
/ Trespasses by Louise Kennedy
/ Unnatural Causes by P.D. James
/ Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
/ The Christmas Jigsaw Murders by Alexandra Benedict
Kicking off with the new Dolly Alderton novel – Good Material had all her trademark humour and dry take on things, this time the majority of the novel was narrated by a male character which was new for her – a very enjoyable update.
Trespasses was truly outstanding. The emotion and storytelling were so good – it’s a book that, even much later, I’m still thinking about, definitely one to read if you haven’t already!
I also used November to tick off some titles on my TBR – both books from detective series as it turns out. P.D. James is a classic author I’ve been meaning to read so much more of for ages and I got on very well with Unnatural Causes, a read that introduced me to detective Adam Dalgleish, so will be delving into her back-catalogue further too.
Kate Atkinson is another author I’ve been intrigued by and Case Histories is the first in her Jackson Brodie detective series – I loved it but had some thoughts – click on my review link above to see if you agree…
Then as it is almost Christmas I added a festive read into the mix with with The Christmas Jigsaw Murders – just the kind of witty, cosy crime for this time of year.
I also compiled my list of the 5 best gifts for book lovers to drop a not-so subtle hint to my loved ones and share some gifting ideas with you too! There are so many great book-themed gifts out there – let me know what’s on your wishlist, I’m always on the lookout for more!
Until next month, happy reading!
