For this month’s podcast review I’m dipping my toes into the waters of the much loved share-a-meal-with-a-celeb and have a fun-old time podcast genre with, Dish. Now, Dish is actually a podcast from Waitrose but as I don’t personally shop there, it’s not like its a plug from me, I just find it a genuinely great podcast with great hosts and guests, what more do you want? Well, actually if you’re a fan of culinary podcasts then great recipes are key too – which do appear each episode. Along with some excellent wine choices.
Why Dish?
Well, to sum it up – the guests. Give a raise to whoever books the guests on this podcast. I literally haven’t skipped an episode and that’s why Dish appeals to me so much. If you listen to podcasts that have a different celebs as a guest format then you’ll know it’s rare to not skip a few episodes, but Dish just totally speaks to me with its blend of funny, interesting guests.
The podcast is all focused around them sharing a meal with hosts TV presenter and radio host, Nick Grimshaw and Michelin-star chef, Angela Hartnett. They, by the way, have such brilliant rapport too, which really brings everything together. Angela also cooks delicious food and has inspired me be a touch more experimental in my food choices.
Favourite episodes of mine include Derry Girls actresses Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin) and Siobhan McSweeney (Sister Michael), amazing authors Marian Keyes and Candice Brathwaite and comedians Tim Minchin and Nish Kumar. But like I said, it’s just top-tier guests across the series’.
Great chat, good food
As mentioned, there are a few podcasts in this theme, others I listen to include Table Manners with Jessie Ware, Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster and Comfort Eating with Grace Dent. This genre is just so good for having a chuckle while you clean the house or making your commute just that bit more bearable, while picking up some tasty recipe tips too. If you haven’t given Dish a try yet, highly recommend!
