What I Read in May 2025

May was a slower paced reading month for me, just taking things gently and not worrying about how many reviews I’m going to get up per month. It’s refreshing! I’m reading the ACOTAR series (more on that below) but like to read a different genre in-between each to mix things up a little.

My May Book Reviews:

(Click on book title for my full review.)

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

/ Piglet by Lottie Hazell

/ Conclave by Robert Harris

/ I Want to Go Home but I’m Already There by Róisín Lanigan

So I did decide to delve further into the icons of the romantasy genre after finishing Onyx Storm, and read ACOTAR – A Court of Thorns and Roses. I had… mixed feelings on it. I was really surprised actually. After the addictive drama of Fourth Wing, ACOTAR was a slower experience. Very much more in the fairytale area, it wasn’t what I was expecting.

Conclave was a last minute audiobook choice when I was on holiday – inspired by the actual conclave that was happening at the time to elect the now Pope Leo XIV. It’s my first read by Robert Harris and I really enjoyed it.

Then I rounded off the month with 2 contemporary fiction reads – Piglet and I Want to Go Home but I’m Already There – both had female lead characters in their 20s, trying to figure out moments in their life. I enjoy these kind of books, and while these aren’t my favourites in the genre, they keep me reading and both brought interesting ideas to the table.

Until next month, happy reading!
