6 Halloween Ready Reads (& one listen)
For the puzzle solvers…
/ Strange Houses & Strange Pictures by Uketsu

Now, you might think these are similar books, and you’d be right. BUT I have included them both here as I really do feel they come as a pair. Not only are these fascinating, clever and more than bit creepy stories that use visuals as clues to tell their tales, but they are written by this anonymous Japanese YouTuber, to further play into the sinister myth of these books.
For the vampire lovers…
/ Thirst by Marina Yuszczuk
/ The Gathering by C.J. Tudor

In my humble opinion, vampires are the BEST of all the Halloween creatures. With witches coming a close second. So here are two excellent reads featuring said blood-suckers. Thirst is a more emotional take on the genre, while The Gathering is a good-old murder mystery, steeped in isolated settings and dark corners.
For the true crime enthusiasts…
/ The Peepshow – The Murders at 10 Rillington Place by Kate Summerscale
/ Ghost Story – Wondery podcast

As there is nothing spookier than real life sinister happenings, I’m rounding up my 6 Halloween ready reads (& one listen). The Peepshow is a brilliantly written telling of the very disturbing story of Reg Christie. He lured women into home, 10 Rillington Place, and murdered them. It’s a take on media bias and society prejudice, as well as a jaw-dropping murder tale.
Lastly, the listen. Ghost Story podcast from Wondery is SO GOOD. It has a dark and sinister family history, ghosts, celebrity links and a narrator taking us on the journey as he discovers things. Truly a 10/10 story.
Hope you find a frightening new read (listen) here!
