Now, I’ve read a lot of thrillers, so when I say I have never read one with as many twists and layers as My Husband’s Wife, you know you’re in for a wild ride. I like Alice Feeney so knew she would deliver on a great thriller but this feels next level!

Opening sentence: Everybody lies and everybody dies.
Where to start?
I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book where literally every single character is an unreliable narrator? But here, in the world of My Husband’s Wife, or more specifically, Hope Falls on the Cornish coastline, they all very much are.
We have artist Eden Fox and her husband, Harrison, who have recently moved to Hope Falls. The thing is, Eden claims that her life is being stolen by another woman, which in itself is a strong hook for this story, but that is merely part of this impressive tale.
The other part of the tale is all about where Eden and Harrison live – Spyglass. An impressive house overlooking the village. A house with a history…
“We might not have known her, but everyone in the village kew the stories about her. The mysterious old woman living at Spyglass has always been a bit of a local legend.”
And said mysterious old woman has a link to another of our lead characters, Olivia Bird. Olivia, known as Birdy, was left the house as inheritance, but she lives in London, so goes back to Cornwall to wrap things up with the sale. But that’s when things get a little strange and Birdy realises she might need to stick around a little longer.
With the help of local policeman, Sergeant Carter, who has more than a few secrets himself, Birdy tries to get to the bottom of who the real Eden is and just why Spyglass has such a dubious reputation in the village. The whole time you are questioning who is telling the truth, so you have to keep turning the pages to get to the jaw-dropping conclusion.
Life is filled with sliding doors and dead ends, and I’m sure everyone wonders what if from time to time.
Packed full of twists, deception and gasp-moments, if you’re looking for a high-impact thriller to kick your year off with, pick up My Husband’s Wife get get ready to be entertained.
