I had a few books I DNF’d in February and thought I would never get into my reading rhythm for the month, but all it took to set me back on track, it turns out, was a wonderful novella.
Something about reading a whole book in one sitting does so much to get your over that psychological hill. It helps that the book in question – Foster by Claire Keegan – was amazing. Read my full review of it below.

My February Book Reviews:
(Click on book title for my full review.)
/ The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden
/ Foster by Claire Keegan
/ Paper Cut by Rachel Taff
/ The Killer Question by Janice Hallett
The other three books I read were also highly rated (by others and now me). The Killer Question is a Janice Hallett classic. A twisty, funny, clever murder mystery, all told through emails and WhatsApp conversations. If you’re looking for a more unique read, pick it up.
Paper Cut is a great debut novel, a psychological thriller that centres around that endlessly fascinating subject (to me anyway) of a cult. More specifically, a heady Californian cult. Low-level celebrities, lies and documentary making also feature.
Lastly, The Safekeep was sitting on my TBR for way too long, and ended up being such an engrossing read. Winner of the 2025 Women’s Prize for Fiction, it’s set in the Netherlands in 1961 and tells the story of repressed, confused Isabel. Brooding, sensual and so well written.
Until next month, happy reading!
