June Wrap Up / July TBR

From a book festival to a blog tour, I’ve had quite the bookish June! I also managed to read some highly enjoyable books:

I went along to the Greenwich Book Festival, which almost felt curated just for me, such was the perfect fit of the author talks! I heard Lucy Mangan reminisce about her childhood reading with her fab book, Bookworm. Angie Thomas and Patrick Ness talked all things YA and Emma Gannon and Dolly Alderton discussed their books Everything I Know About Love (one of my 2018 favourites so far) and The Multi-Hyphen Method, a contemporary career guide that I can’t wait to get stuck into. It was a great, great, inspiring day. There’s nothing I love more than a day talking about books!

I also took part in my first blog tour for I Found My Tribe this month, which was very exciting. This is Ruth Fitzmaurice’s memoir on how she coped with life once her husband was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. An incredibly tough situation that she writes about with such emotion and poise. I really recommend this one.

The Chalk Man was my stand out fiction read for the month – a truly sophisticated murder mystery with AMAZING audiobook narrators – actors Asa Butterfield and Andrew Scott. If you’re looking for a great audiobook, I guarantee you can’t go wrong with this one.

I’m kicking off July with Why Mummy Swears by Gill Sims and it is so, so funny (in a funny ‘cos it’s true kind of way) so far – I’m really enjoying it. I also have The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton ready to read – it’s a chilling murder mystery that I’ve heard good things about, hopefully it lives up to the hype!
