5 Highly Anticipated 2021 Book Releases

This new year brings with it a lot of uncertainty so THANK GOD for books. Specifically, my 5 highly anticipated 2021 book releases that give me a thrill every time I think about them and work wonderfully to distract me from reality. Which is something I definitely need this January.

I’ve already come across so many 2021 books I want to read so in this post I’m just giving you my top 5 for the first quarter of the year: January – March releases. Enjoy!

My 5 highly anticipated 2021 book releases

The Shape of Darkness by Laura Purcell
Released 28th January 2021

I have read this one already and you’re in for a treat. The Shape of Darkness is the fourth book by Laura Purcell and her enticing Gothic fingerprints are all over it. Set in Victorian Bath, it follows Agnes Darken (a silhouette portrait artist) as she tries to work out why all her clients are dying…

The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles
Released 9th February 2021

This book caught my eye on Sarah Jessica Parker’s instagram, no less. SJP is an avid reader (and cover star of the recent The Happy Reader issue) so when she sings the praises of a book, I listen. The Paris Library centres around the American Library in Paris during WWII and is an ode to the power of friendship and books.

The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse
Released 18th February 2021

This time of year definitely calls for a thriller you can immerse yourself in and I can 100% recommend The Sanatorium as I’m very lucky to have read it. An old sanatorium in the Swiss Alps becomes a luxury hotel, bringing all its sinister secrets (and some murder) with it.

Madam by Phoebe Wynne
Released 18th February 2021

When a book is described as Rebecca meets The Secret History then how can I resist? Madam is a Gothic feminist story about a young teacher who starts a new job at a established but secretive school. I LOVE a bit of Gothic fiction so can’t wait to read this!

Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
Released 4th March 2021

I have heard nothing but amazing things about Yaa Gyasi’s storytelling and Transcendent Kingdom weaves themes of science, religion, family and addiction. Just the kind of epic read I love to escape into – so I will be delving into this soon.

Do you seen anything on this list you’re looking forward to reading? Let me know your most anticipated books of 2021 – always more room on my TBR!
