Hello, hello and welcome to my October WWW Wednesday post! This is a weekly (but I tend to do it monthly) challenge, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.
If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and put your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?
The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell. I was gifted this book on my birthday and I’m so glad I was. It’s a multi-layered psychological thriller that is setting the scene wonderfully… I just hope it keeps up this high level until the end!
/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?
My reading pace has slowed down A LOT recently for various reasons (annoying if you write a book blog!) but I’m not putting pressure on myself if some months I have less reviews, that’s just the way things are at the moment. But an excellent book I did read in recent weeks was Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller – excellent, high- tense drama.
/ WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?
Well, as it’s spooky season, I’m getting in the mood with a Gothic read, The Ghost Woods by C.J. Cooke. It sounds a little like this…
In the midst of the woods stands a house called Lichen Hall. This place is shrouded in folklore – old stories of ghosts, of witches, of a child who was not quite a child. Now the woods are creeping closer, and something has been unleashed.
Pearl Gorham arrives in 1965, one of a string of young women sent to Lichen Hall to give birth. And she soon suspects the proprietors are hiding something. Then she meets the mysterious mother and young boy who live in the grounds – and together they begin to unpick the secrets of this place.
As the truth comes to the surface and the darkness moves in, Pearl must rethink everything she knew – and risk what she holds most dear.
Love it – the perfect Halloween read.
I’d love to know what you’re reading this week or plan on reading soon – let me know below!
I’m curious about Lisa Jewell. I’ve got my sister one of her books for her birthday. I also like the sound of The Ghost Woods.
Have a great week!

The ending of the Family Upstairs is the best part. Enjoy! I need to read The Family Remains – hopefully before the end of the year.

I really enjoyed The Family Upstairs. I love the way things are never quite as they seem in her books.

Yes, the way it kept you guessing was really good. It’s my first book by her so looking forward to reading more 🙂

I have many slow periods with my reading too. I tend to be a seasonal reader which doesn’t help either! The Family Upstairs looks like an interesting thriller. I’ve seen it around a lot.
