New sunshine reads time! There are so many new summer 2023 book releases I am very excited about. Some I’ve read and loved so am recommending to you from that perspective and some I have on my TBR as they just look amazing. These are all books released from June – August, enjoy!
5 New Summer 2023 Books You Must Read

/ My Own Worst Enemy by Lily Lindon
Published: 8th June 2023
Lily Lindon came to my attention with Double Booked – a joyous story of a bisexual woman finding her feet in the world. My Own Worst Enemy is in the same funny, witty tone and introduces us to Emmy, an actor who has the habit on only being attracted to women who look just like her. Things take a turn for the complicated when it’s fellow actor Mae who turns her head as they are competing for the same roles… Summer fun all round.
/ The Other Side of Mrs Wood by Lucy Barker
Published: 13th June
Now for a little bit of historical fiction – with added spirits. The Other Side of Mrs Wood is the tale of Victorian London’s most celebrated medium, Mrs Wood. All is going well until she takes on an apprentice who is not all she seems… A highly enjoyable story of belief and illusion.
/ The Rachel Incident by Caroline O’Donoghue
Published: 22nd June
I love Irish author Caroline O’Donoghue’s writing style – it’s so funny, poignant and clever – and The Rachel Incident is another brilliant story from her. Rachel is a student at Cork uni and finds herself embroiled in a tangled situation with her professor, his wife and Rachel’s best friend, James. An excellent read.

/ Tough Crowd by Andi Osho
Published: 20th July
I really like Andi Osho’s debut, Asking for a Friend so have her new novel, Tough Crowd on my summer reading list. This is a feel-good romantic comedy that explores an important dynamic – how the new girlfriend wins over her boyfriend’s kids. I haven’t read a book with this theme before, so very much looking forward to it.
/ The Good Liars by Anita Frank
Published: 17th August
I do have a love of historical fiction so ending my summer reads list with another – very different from The Other Side of Mrs Wood though! The Good Liars is set in the 1920s and is all about the Stilwell family and a mysterious murder. They find themselves under scrutiny when the police re-open an old case and some secrets come bubbling to the surface. I love stories like this, perfect warm weather reading.
So there you have it – my most anticipated summer reads! What’s on your list?
