WWW Wednesday: 7th June 2023

Welcome to my June WWW Wednesday post! This is a weekly (but I tend to do it monthly) challenge, hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. If you’re curious about what other people are reading right now too, join in! All you have to do is answer the three bookish questions below and put your blog link on Sam’s weekly post in the comments.

/ WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW?

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams – well I had to, right? The book has been on my TBR for a while and as it seemed like the most fitting month to read it in, I am! I love it so far – it’s got such a chatty, upbeat tone. I’m immediately drawn to lead character, Eve and can’t wait to get to know more about her story.

/ WHAT HAVE YOU RECENTLY READ?

Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey. I cannot recommend this book enough! I adored everything about it. It’s so funny, so smart, such a joy to read. It follows the life of Maggie, a woman who finds herself unexpectedly getting divorced in her late 20s. It’s all about life changes, friendship, romance and just being human – so good!

/ WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?

Patrica Highsmith is an author that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time. I picked up Carol in a charity shop, so going to start with that one. Set in 1950s American when women falling in love just wasn’t acceptable in society, I’m intrigued to see how the story goes. Here’s the blurb:

Therese is just an ordinary sales assistant working in a New York department store when a beautiful, alluring woman in her thirties walks up to her counter. Standing there, Therese is wholly unprepared for the first shock of love.

Therese is an awkward nineteen-year-old with a job she hates and a boyfriend she doesn’t love; Carol is a sophisticated, bored suburban housewife in the throes of a divorce and a custody battle for her only daughter. As Therese becomes irresistibly drawn into Carol’s world, she soon realises how much they both stand to lose…

I’d love to know what you’re reading this week or plan on reading soon – let me know below!
