When I saw the the audiobook of The Bullet That Missed was narrated by the wonderful Irish actress, Fiona Shaw, I was in. This is book 3 in Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club series and does have a lot of threads that pick up directly from its predecessor, The Man Who Died Twice.

So, The Bullet That Missed sees the gang of Coopers Chase retirement village – Elizabeth, Ron, Joyce and Ibrahim – delving into another unsolved murder case to pass the time.
This one involves a missing body, that of journalist, Bethany Waite who, it seems, got a little too close in a money laundering case she was researching, and a touch of showbiz in the form of local TV presenter, Mike Waghorn, Bethany’s friend.
There’s also a spot of romance for both Ron and everyone’s favourite supporting characters Bogdan (the gang’s handyman) and Donna (police officer), which adds a nice extra tone to the overall read.
Easy reads
Perfectly paced, there’s laughs, tension and just the right element of surprise at the end to make this another brilliant outing for the Thursday murder club. Richard Osman has absolutely hit on a winning formula with this series.
I just love the gentle, Sunday-night-cosy-murder-mystery tone this series has, all the books are an expert blend of clever and funny which makes reading them such a pleasant experience. I have to say, I especially like the chapters from the Thursday murder club’s very own Miss Marple, Joyce – her growing character is a delight.
Fiona Shaw is, as you would expect, an excellent narrator and really brought the entire book to life. I’m actually a little behind in the series as book 4, The Last Devil to Die is already out and book 5, The Impossible Fortune is being published in September, so will add both to my TBR now!

Ah I still need to finish the Thursday Murder Club!! I started the audio on my partners Spotify till we ran out of listening hours aha and then changed account types so it’s not included anymore and I’ve not picked it back up yet since. But I loved it. My dad has all the whole series in paperback so it’s on my list to complete! 😀 xo
